The Handmade Soaps

What Handmade Soaps are on the Curing Rack here at Pixie Soap

After taking a vacation to Disney in December and busy sales, I have been working as fast as I can replenishing stock and working on some new goodies. So after just finishing two batches of soap today I thought to take a minute and give you a quick rundown on what is on the soap racks that may not be on the shelves yet.

So here goes:

Passionfruit Papaya - Not sickly tropical but a perfect blend of Passionfruit and Papaya. Yummy! Should be ready in the next day or so.

???? - Limited Edition - Not sure what to name this bad boy yet, but it is a warm spicy mix of some sandalwood fragrance oil and personal blend of essential oils with a bit of sweet almond meal added for mild exfoliation. This is a limited edition because I generally use a complete base of vegetable oils but this is one I made with some added tallow that I actually rendered myself. Some day I will post about rendering your own tallow as it isn't a very easy fun project, but it certainly makes a nice hard bar of soap!

Butter Bliss - This should be done in a day or so also. One of my unscented soaps LOADED with an assortment of butters! Shea butter, kokum butter, mango butter, coffee butter, cocoa butter...need I say more?

Shea Heaven - Another unscented soap (I like to keep a large assortment for those who do not like fragrance of any sort). A soap loaded with a bit more than 35% Shea Butter and a heavy dose of Sunflower oil. Skin loving stuff I say!

Goats Milk, Oats and Honey - Another unscented big seller. Restock made with skin nourishing goats milk, oats and some honey. Always a classic.

Coconut - A very light scented straight up coconut soap. Made with coconut milk for those vegans who still enjoy a milk based soap. I actually posted a picture of the Coconut Soap when I first unmolded it, check here.

Gardenia - Lovely floral that isn't overpowering. Great for the upcoming spring and summer seasons.

Buds N Suds - Another of my unscented restocks. A fabulous soap made with Budweiser Beer. Great for everyone but men love it!

Elements of Bamboo - Great blend of bamboo, cedar, mixed with lemon, tangerine and ginger. A great scent for both men and women.

Tea Tree and Eucalyptus - Another restock. A great pick me up scent and great for those with oily skin due to the added tea tree essential oil.

Peppermint - Restock as I do like to carry this all year, why would you only like it during the Christmas season? A fabulous soap with Peppermint essential oil and swirled with pink clay.

Just Good Soap - Another restock as I only have 2 bars left, ya nothing like waiting till the last minute. One of my unscented soaps loaded with skin loving ingredients such as oats, jojoba oil and avocado oil. Just good stuff.

So this is currently what is on the shelves but I of course am making more all the time. Plus this week I will be having a making blitz on some old and new lip balms, so stay tuned!

One Soap I made this past week

I have been totally restocking, but also REALLY getting in the mood for spring and summer. Between making restocks for items I know I carry all the time, I have been adding in things to get me in the mood for the upcoming warmer months.

I have been craving coconut. I already have Lime in the Coconut, but I have wanted just a simple straight coconut.

So I made a straight up coconut scented soap. What would go better with coconut than some coconut milk? Coconut milk in handmade soap lends a nice creamy milky lather. It is a great way for vegans to enjoy some milk based soaps.

So I finally grabbed my camera to snap a few photos of this lovely loaf before I cut it up to cure. I also added some shaved Castile Soap on top to give a nice soapy look of coconut.

Mint Chocolate Chunk Handmade Soap

Mint Chocolate Chunk Handmade Soap is one of my favorite creations. I love the look and the fact that it is created with essential oils. No fragrance oils at all in this batch.

It is basically a two day process to make this soap. I make one batch of my secret recipe, add the essential oils and real chocolate. It cures overnight and I slice it up the next day into random chunks.

If my schedule is going decent, I generally get the second part done the next day, but it is one that can hold for a few days. For the final part I make the same secret formula, add the essential oils and a specific amount of green oxide to get the color green I like best. I pour this green part into the mold, then I place the chocolate chunks from the first batch randomly in. I do it by hand rather than just dump it into the bowl prior to pouring it in the log mold. I just feel it looks better that way.

Once that is all done, I leave it in the mold for a day or so, take it out, slice it up and cure for a good 4 weeks. Voila - yummy handmade chocolate chunk soap and zero calories!

So, you can grab the mint chocolate chunk at my website, Pixiesoap.com or you can grab it at my Etsy store - pixiesoap.etsy.com.

Soft Musk Handmade Soap

Newest soap off the curing rack is my Light Musk Handmade Soap.  Great for both men and woman, very light straight musk. No added colors for a very neutral look.

It is nice and smooth. I like it's simple scent.

Patchouli and Lettuce Soap

Yesterday I made Patchouli and Lettuce Soap. Not together of course! That would be pretty gross....I would think. The price of Patchouli an ounce at the moment sure would make me hesitate to try it out, that is for sure.

I made a fresh batch of Patchouli Soap and a new batch of Lettuce. I haven't had lettuce in a few months, but I decided to bring some more back. It is nice and light to finish off the summer.

Maybe I will post some pics while slicing it up tomorrow. Sorry I had to post with no pics, but I did tell myself I should try to express myself at least every other day.

It is good to let off a tad bit of sarcasm at least every few days.

Chocolate Banana Handmade Soap

Chocolate_banana_3 My newest soap to hit the store store today - is Chocolate Banana.

Doesn't it look yummy? Well it is, for your nose anyway, just not your mouth.

This batch is actually a blend of two separate batches. Not one of those combined fragrance oils.

The first batch was scented banana. After being in the mold for full saponification, it was removed and sliced into long narrow pieces.

The second batch was made with a lovely chocolate fragrance and colored with cocoa powder. The long slices of banana soap were randomly added when poured into the mold.

Overall, I enjoy the blend and the look it pretty cool. I just cannot have fruits without some kind of chocolate, I confess.
